After months of leaks, teasers, and controversy, the OnePlus 15 has finally launched in India, and it could prove to be one of the most interesting flagship phones yet. Interestingly, the buzz around this phone began long before its launch, be it the removal of the Hasselblad partnership, changes to the camera hardware, and a price hike that pushed it closer to the ultra-flagship category.

Still, the OnePlus 15 has a lot going for it, making it a strong flagship. This includes a 1.5K 165Hz LTPO display, a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, a large 7,300mAh battery, 120W fast charging, and a new computational system called the DetailMax Engine. I’ve been using the 12GB + 256GB Ultra Violet variant for the past few weeks. The OnePlus 15 box comes in a classic red color with the same minimalist and premium look. Inside, you’ll find:

    • OnePlus 15 handset
    • 120W SUPERVOOC charger
    • USB-A to USB-C cable
    • Case that matches the color of the phone
    • SIM ejector tool and necessary documentation

The inclusion of a charger is still a great thing. Brands like Samsung and Apple have long since stopped offering this, but OnePlus still offers a complete package, which is truly commendable. The included case is also quite premium and of excellent quality.

OnePlus 15 Review: Design and Build

The Ultra Violet variant’s most distinctive feature is its dynamic look, which changes from blue to purple depending on the lighting. The matte AG glass resists fingerprints and feels good in the hand.

The aluminum frame and smooth matte finish make it look premium. The camera island is no longer round, but has a modern design similar to the OnePlus 13s.

The phone weighs 211 grams and is 8.1mm thick, slightly thinner and wider than the OnePlus 13. The edges are flat, but not too sharp. The back panel has a slight curve for better grip, but a case is still a good idea.

The build quality is flagship-level. Both the front and back are protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2, and ratings like IP66, IP68, IP69, IP69K make it resistant to dust, water, and hot water jets up to 80°C.

The button placement remains the same, except the alert slider is replaced by a new Plus Key.

    OnePlus 15 review: Display

What are the display specifications of the OnePlus 15? As always, OnePlus has focused on the display. The OnePlus 15 features a 6.78-inch 1.5K LTPO AMOLED panel. This is technically smaller than the 2K screen on its previous flagship, but the difference is barely noticeable in everyday use. The specifications are certainly lower on paper. The company says that combining 2K resolution and a 165Hz refresh rate isn’t possible right now.

The display supports an adaptive refresh rate from 1Hz to 120Hz, reaching up to 165Hz in some games. The panel also supports ProXDR, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision. The 1800 nits of brightness provides excellent outdoor visibility, and it’s one of the brightest panels I’ve seen.

The phone’s bezels are incredibly thin, making it feel like you’re holding a sheet of glass. According to the company, they’re just 1.15mm, and they appear to be.

Color calibration is well-tuned. Both sRGB and P3 are supported, and Natural, Vivid, and Standard profiles are available. I found the Natural profile to be the best. You can also manually adjust the color wheel if desired.

Touch response is handled by a dedicated chip, which delivers a 3,200Hz sampling rate. Every gesture is instantly registered when scrolling or playing games like COD Mobile/BGMI.

The phone also receives TÜV Rheinland Intelligent Eye Care 5.0 certification, which includes adaptive color temperature and Eye Comfort features. The display can go as low as 1 nit in brightness, and 2,160Hz PWM dimming reduces eye strain.

Speaking of streaming, Netflix and Prime Video in HDR10+ and YouTube in HDR play smoothly. Blacks look deep, and highlights are balanced. Games that support 165fps offer smooth frame rates.

However, system-wide 165Hz support isn’t available yet, as expected. Hopefully, this will be added in an upcoming update. OnePlus says that 165fps and frame boost support will be coming to more games soon.

OnePlus 15 review: Speakers and haptics

The stereo speakers deliver loud and rich sound, though the mid-tones are a bit over-emphasized. Audio is powerful even when gaming. The top and bottom speakers are symmetrical, ensuring equal sound quality.

The X-axis haptics provide good tactile feedback and make gaming moments immersive. While they’re slightly weaker than the OnePlus 13, they’re still among the best haptic experiences on the market. Thanks to OxygenOS, their integration into the UI is also quite smooth.

    OnePlus 15 review: Software

OxygenOS 16, which is based on Android 16, feels quite mature and smooth. It includes several AI features, as well as non-AI features that feel genuinely useful. System-wide animations have been further improved this year, making the overall user experience feel even better. Overall, OxygenOS 16 remains one of the best software experiences around.

    OnePlus AI

OnePlus’ AI has been a big focus this year. Plus Mind, first introduced with the OnePlus 13s, has been further enhanced. It acts as a digital scrapbook where you can quickly save things like articles, chats, or screenshots. Mind Space organizes these neatly and makes them easily searchable based on context.

It now also connects to Google Gemini, allowing you to ask smart questions about your saved information, like finding your saved restaurants that stay open late. Gemini checks this saved content and combines it with real-time data from the internet to provide accurate results.

Some new AI features have also been added. AI Recorder transcribes and summarizes meetings live. AI Portrait Glow enhances portrait photos in low light. AI Scan converts documents and notes into clear PDFs or images. AI PlayLab lets you try experimental tools like translating menus or creating short videos.

Other features include AI Eraser, Reflection Eraser, AI 4K Clarity, AI Unblur, AI Summary, AI Translate, AI Notes (with Mind Maps), and AI Writer. Overall, OnePlus’ AI setup is arguably the strongest after Samsung’s.

OnePlus says that all these features run on a private computing cloud, so your data remains encrypted even during processing.

    Software Update Policy

OnePlus promises 4 years of OS updates and 6 years of security updates, which is a year less than the iQOO 15. It would have been better if it matched iQOO’s 5 years of OS and 7 years of security support.

The OnePlus 15 also comes with Motion Cues, which helps reduce motion sickness in the car, and eye-comfort features like Screen Time Alert and Blink Reminder, which notify you when you’re staring at the screen for extended periods.

Overall, the OnePlus 15 offers a smooth and refined software experience with OxygenOS 16.

    OnePlus 15 review: Performance

OnePlus 15 camera and battery review Bangladesh, oneplus 15 Antutu Score
    oneplus 15 Antutu Score

In my opinion, the OnePlus 15 isn’t just another flagship with a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. This shows how important proper tuning plays in performance. Even after using several other devices based on the same platform, I found the OnePlus 15 to be consistently smooth under all loads.

It’s powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 built on the 4 nm process, featuring two prime Oryon cores clocked at 4.6 GHz, and six performance cores at 3.63 GHz. Paired with Adreno 840 GPU, 12 GB LPDDR5X Ultra RAM, and UFS 4.1 storage, this thing flies through anything you throw at it.

It’s powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, built on a 4nm process, with two Oryon Prime cores clocked at 4.6 GHz and six performance cores (clocked at 3.63 GHz). Performance is fast and stable, paired with an Adreno 840 GPU, 12GB of LPDDR5X Ultra RAM, and UFS 4.1 storage.

    Benchmark test results (12GB + 256GB):

Beyond the synthetic numbers, what really impressed me was its real-world optimization. OnePlus’ CPU Scheduler smartly balances the load, so frame rates remain stable even after 45 minutes of continuous gaming. The system allocates resources based on need instead of pushing the CPU too hard. This is why we don’t experience sudden frame drops or overheating issues.

    Thermal

The 360° Cryo-Velocity Cooling System is truly impressive. It features a 5,731 mm² 3D vapor chamber, aerogel insulation on the display, and white graphite on the back, ensuring heat dissipation is even.

Long Genshin Impact sessions and 165FPS BGMI/CODM play saw temperatures reach around 43°C, which is excellent for such a stable frame rate. Best of all, the screen remains comfortable to the touch, which is a big plus for gamers.

    Gaming Experience

all the gaming phones I’ve used, the OnePlus 15 felt the most effective. OnePlus has included three hardware components to improve responsiveness, including a touch chip, a Wi-Fi chip, and a UAV-grade gyroscope (±4000 DPS).

This gyro is extremely accurate and even slight movements in games like CODM and BGMI are registered without drift or latency.

You can see the list of 165 FPS supported games below:

    • Clash of Clans
    • Brawl Stars
    • Real Racing 3
    • Standoff 2
    • Blood Strike
    • COD Mobile

BGMI gets a 165 FPS Frame Boost, and the difference is clearly visible compared to 120 FPS, but more games need to support it.

I got a consistent 60 FPS in Genshin Impact, and performance remained stable at 60 FPS in Wuthering Waves as well. There were no frame drops or stutters in these games, even after long gaming sessions.

Network stability is excellent. The dedicated Wi-Fi chip provides 50% better throughput and longer range. I was two rooms away from the router, and ping remained below 10 ms.

Simply put, this is the best gaming phone. If you’re looking for smooth and responsive gaming this year, the OnePlus 15 is the best.

OnePlus 15 Cameras review: OnePlus 15 camera performance Kenya review,

Now let’s talk about the most talked about part of the OnePlus 15, i.e. the cameras.

Hasselblad’s withdrawal was met with concern, but that’s not the whole story. The Detail Max Engine handled the bulk of the color tuning quite well.

Yes, the camera hardware has changed and technically it would be considered a downgrade compared to the OnePlus 13.

Overall, all the sensors are smaller than before, but the selfie camera finally gets autofocus feature.

But hardware isn’t everything; the DetailMax Engine combines multiple frames to produce 26MP output across all lenses, and the results are good. The 26MP mode is simply disabled in low light, as the sensor requires 4:1 pixel binning.

    Primary Camera

Daytime photos are crisp and natural. Color balance is good, and oversharpening is minimal. Snapshot Mode is also included, which captures moving subjects well, making it useful for street photography, children’s photography, or bird photography. Silhouette, Fireworks, and Stage modes also work well.

Dynamic range is good, though bright edges can become hazy in heavy backlight. Motion blur is minimal, and shutter lag is virtually nonexistent.

In low light, auto night mode balances highlights, but it’s best to turn on Night mode for better results. Noise is also well controlled, though textures can appear a bit smooth when zoomed in, and some photos appear brighter than expected.

    Telephoto

The OnePlus 15’s 3.5X telephoto lens is weaker in both sensor and aperture than the OnePlus 13’s 3X telephoto lens, but it still offers good quality up to 7X during the day. OnePlus calls it lossless zoom, but that’s not entirely accurate.

After 10X, the AI processing becomes more noticeable, especially during indoor zoom. However, even then, the output is still better than many competitors, which is a bit surprising, considering the hardware is a bit weak, but the AI is there.

The telephoto can now focus as close as 30 cm, allowing for good macro-like shots even at 7X in the right light.

In low light, the camera often resorts to main sensor crop, and there’s no option to turn it off. The original 3.5X lens is only active when there’s little light.

    Ultra Wide

The ultra-wide lens also doubles as a macro, but results aren’t always consistent. Daylight photos are good, distortion correction is good, and colors match the main lens. However, edge detail is a bit soft, and in low light, smoothing increases and detail is quickly lost.

The ultra-wide macro mode is decent, but not very sharp. For better macro results, it’s better to use a cropped main sensor.

    Portrait

Portrait mode output is quite good. Edge detection is better than before, and skin tones look more natural. Background blur is good, though the depth compression at 1.5X and 2X isn’t as good as last year. In Portrait mode, you can zoom continuously from 1X to 3.5X.

    Selfies

I don’t take selfies often, but I found the OnePlus 15’s selfie photos quite good. Autofocus helps keep both group and solo shots sharp. There’s some softness in low light, but it’s still better than many flagship phones. The 21mm focal length also provides a nice wide frame.

Master Mode and XPAN still exist

Master Mode lets you shoot in JPG, JPG Max, RAW, and RAW Max, while also putting ISO and shutter controls at your fingertips. New filters like Neon and Cold/Warm Flash are great additions.

Despite the Hasselblad departure, the XPAN option remains on the OnePlus 15. You can use the new widescreen aspect ratio in Photo mode, or crop a photo to the XPAN aspect ratio later. While it’s not exactly the same as true XPAN, it’s a good alternative.

    Video

The OnePlus 15’s video quality is also impressive. You can record in 4K 120 FPS with Dolby Vision HDR. However, 120 FPS is only supported on the main sensor, while the telephoto sensor is limited to 4K 60 FPS.

Even in terms of real-time tone mapping, the OnePlus 15 keeps the subject and background exposed differently, making skin tones and transitions look better.

OnePlus has added another feature, however. You can now switch between the front and rear cameras while recording (up to 4K 60 FPS). Portrait video is also now available at 4K 30 FPS and works on both the main camera and the 3.5X telephoto.

Stabilization is good on all lenses. Overall quality is good. Pro Video mode now also offers O-Log recording and live LUT preview.

The front camera delivers clear video, but the HDR is a bit overdone in bright light. With autofocus, this is one of the best selfie video cameras OnePlus has to offer.

Overall, the video performance of the OnePlus 15 is quite strong. Most users will find it an upgrade from the OnePlus 13, though it could have been even stronger with better hardware.

OnePlus 15 review: Battery life and charging

OnePlus 15 battery life review Kenya, The 7,300 mAh Silicon NanoStack battery is one of the largest in the flagship category right now, and its performance is also excellent. In my mixed usage, I consistently got 11–12 hours of screen time, and sometimes even longer over Wi-Fi.

Charging is also fast. The 120W SUPERVOOC charger can fully charge the phone from 0 to 100% in about 40–45 minutes, and from 0 to 60% in just about 15 minutes.

The phone also comes with 50W AIRVOOC wireless charging, 4.5W reverse wireless charging, and bypass charging, which reduces heat and load on the battery while gaming.

Even better, OnePlus says this battery can retain 80% health even after 4 years, and works reliably in cold weather down to -20°C.

Review Verdict: Should you buy the OnePlus 15?

After a few days of use, it’s clear that the OnePlus 15 is the most performance-focused OnePlus phone yet. The camera sensors are smaller and the price is a bit higher, but gaming, a smooth display, a long battery life, and new AI features make it quite powerful.

So, should you buy it for ₹73,000?

If gaming performance is your focus, this could be a good choice after a good discount. But if you want the best value, it might be wiser to wait for the OnePlus 13 or one of the upcoming flagship phones.
