Why You Might Want to Install Windows 11 Without an Internet Connection

Best 4 Methods to Install Windows 11 Without Internet

There are several reasons why you might want to install Windows 11 without internet access:

    • Lack of Internet Connection: In some areas or when you set up your computer in a place without a stable connection, you may need to install them offline.
    • Faster Installation: In cases where someone does not want to configure a network and other time-consuming procedures, offline installation speeds up the process.
    • Security Concerns: Some want to take it offline to reduce the risk of malware or unauthorized access.
    • Privacy: During installation, you can skip automatic data syncs, Microsoft account sign-in, and all data collection processes related to online setup.

Whatever the reason, installing Windows 11 without an internet connection is completely possible if done correctly. Let’s see how it’s done.

5 Simple Steps to Install Windows 11 Offline

How to Install Windows 11 Without Internet: Step-by-Step Guide

Although Windows 11 usually requires an internet connection to complete the installation, it’s easy to bypass the network setup and install the system without an internet connection. The steps below will guide you through this process.

    Step 1: Create Installation Media

These steps can be done using installation media, which can be used to install Windows 11 on your device. The installation media is created either with the Windows Media Creation Tool or third-party applications like Rufus. Here’s how:

    Download Windows 11 ISO:

    1. Download the Windows 11 ISO from the official Microsoft website.

    2. Create Bootable USB: Insert a USB flash drive with at least 8GB capacity.

    3. Prepare the bootable USB using the media creation tool or any third-party application like Rufus.

The USB is now ready to boot—provided your system supports UEFI mode. Once you have the bootable USB ready, you can proceed with the next installation steps.

Step 2: Boot from USB Drive

To install Windows 11 offline, you need to boot your computer from the bootable USB you created. Here’s how:

    1. Insert the bootable USB into the device you want to install Windows 11 on.

    Inserting the bootable USB

    2. Enter BIOS/UEFI Settings: Once you reboot, press the appropriate key to enter BIOS/UEFI. It is usually F2, F10 or DEL, depending on the motherboard.

    Entering BIOS/UEFI Settings

    3. Select Boot Order: Find and select the “Boot Order” or “Boot Priority” menu and select USB as the primary boot source of the computer.

    4. Save and Exit: Save the settings and exit BIOS/UEFI. From this point on, the computer will boot from USB.

    Step 3: Start Installation Process

Once the system boots from the USB, Windows 11 installation will begin. Follow the on-screen instructions to select your language, time zone, and keyboard preferences.

    Starting the Installation Process

Step 4: Bypass Network Setup During Installation

During the installation, when prompted for Network Setup, it will ask you to connect to Wi-Fi or Ethernet. To install Windows 11 without using the Internet, follow these steps:

    • Wait for Network Setup to Appear: When you get to the point in the installation that asks you to connect to a network, wait a few seconds until the option to connect appears.
    • Apply the “Skip” or “I don’t have an internet connection” option:

Look for an option that says “I don’t have an internet connection” or “Skip for now.” Microsoft added this option to allow users to continue the installation process without having internet access.

Proceed to Create a Local Account:

Once you select the bypass internet connection option, you will be taken to creating a local account instead of signing in with a Microsoft account.

Follow the on-screen instructions to create a local user: choose a username and password, or leave it blank if you don’t want a password.

Troubleshooting Tips for Installing Windows 11 Without Internet

    Windows 18

While most offline installations of Windows 11 go smoothly, some issues can occur. Here are some tips for dealing with them:

    • Missing Network Drivers: Some systems require network drivers, which may not be included on the installation media. In this case, you will need to download and install them separately afterwards.
    • Unable to Bypass Network Setup: If you don’t see the “I don’t have an internet connection” option, there may be a problem with your installation media or your device’s BIOS settings. Make sure the media was created correctly and that your BIOS is up to date.
    • Windows Updates: You cannot get any Windows updates without an internet connection. You must be connected to the internet to download updates, drivers, and security fixes.
